Recently, 17 Realtors from Century 21 Covered Bridges Realty Inc. of Bloomsburg attended the annual District 7 Realtors Conference at the Genetti Hotel and Suites in Williamsport, where they enjoyed a full day of education and networking with 154 agents from throughout central Pennsylvania. Century 21 Covered Bridges agents in attendance included Hugh Shiffer, Karen Roadarmel, Pam Thomas, Randi Olshelfski, Chuck Wagner, Theresa Krasucki, Kim Williams, Dennis Williams, Angela Young, Dan Young, Dolly Hollinger, broker/owner Sue Barchik, Ruth Killian, Becky Kohli, Carla Farley, MJ Moss and broker/owner and District 7 vice president for the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors (PAR) Dot Rhone.
Also in attendance were PAR president Kathy McQuilkin, the field representative from PAR, Chuck Liedike, a past District 5 vice president and a past PAR president. Realtors came from far and wide from five of the six associations in the district to gather for this event.
The first half-day program was entitled, “Are You Smarter Than a Rookie Agent?”. In this session, PA Real Estate Academy director and “edutainer” Larry Dellegrotto used a Jeopardy game show format for an informative and interactive class. With a combination of the game, lecture, and plenty of laughs, there was an in depth look at issues affecting Realtors in their everyday practice of real estate and how to stay compliant.
Also emphasized was the importance of being cautious and attending to details, providing quality service, abiding by the code of ethics and keeping current with real estate trends through the local, state and National Association of Realtors. Continuing education and staying informed are imperative to an agent’s success in representing their clients’ best interests in a real estate transaction.
The afternoon program was entitled, “Everything You Wanted to Know About RELRA (Real Estate Licensing and Registration Act) But Forgot to Ask, A Realtors Primer to Living with RELRA and the Rules and Regulations of the Real Estate Commission.” James L. Goldsmith, Esquire, general counsel to the PAR, gave a thought-provoking and informative session on information that is required by the state real estate commission and licensing laws in Pennsylvania.
The District 7 Conference is an annual educational seminar presented by the PAR available to agents in the Central Susquehanna Valley Board of Realtors as well as the other five Realtor Associations in central Pennsylvania to help them further their education and professionalism in the real estate industry.
Rhone was responsible for organizing the event in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and will again in 2018. The 2017 conference was a great success as evidenced by the many comments and emails following the event. This was all made possible through a grant from PAR Educational Foundation Gold Sponsors Jersey Shore State Bank, Santander Bank N.A. and Prime Lending; Silver Sponsor Madison Settlement Services; and Bronze Sponsor Pennsylvania Chapter of Council of Residential Specialists (CRS).
